My hesitation
by Delilah Rochester
(San Francisco, California, United States)
I feel the emptiness from your heart
It pulses and lures from beneath your shirt
I breathe in your unspoken weakness
A clear sign that you have been hurt
You're to opinionated and cocky
But I see myself in those hazel eyes
Sometimes I swear they're green
But when I look twice it is just a lie
You've been around because you lust
Or is it because your trying to mend a wound
Like putting salt to a cut
It only stings and continues to consume
Can I help you feel, love and trust?
Or in pursuit just lose my virtue
I'm to innocent, pure and vulnerable
Is it worth it just to prove I wont hurt you?
It's my hesitation that leaves you interested
Still, those hazel eyes that never leave me
I met another boy, so sweet a gentleman
But still not you, just like me except he
You say I turned you down
But when did you make your move?
Simple flattery isn't enough
You only left a vacant clue
