Short Poem for Children

by David Bohmiller
(Boston, MA)

Another short poem for children from the archives.

I feel like this poem (written in elementary school) and others like it shaped the way I write poetry today ~ with questions.

Although this poem has definitive answers to each question, I believe my more recent poems leave the answers up to the readers imagination.

What do you think?

Colors...

What is green?
The grass is green,
and so are the weeds that aren't easily seen.

What is red?
The cherry is red,
so are the roses surrounding the flower bed.

What is blue?
The ocean is blue,
and so are my jeans when they are new.

What is white?
Snow is white,
and so are clouds puffy and light.

David Bohmiller, Sometime between 3rd and 6th grade
