SiteBuildIt Website Building...

Month #3 ~ Jan. '10

Month #3 of my SiteBuildIt website building experience was met with several unexpected hurdles.

SBI! Monthly Billing Option

Taking several next steps in an important relationship took me temporarily away from my poem notebook and from my computer, so I was writing less and posting to the SBI site less often.

We all know that content is king (using C*T*P*M) when it comes to pleasing the search engines and maintaining the loyalty of your readers. So, with a slight drop in new content our website traffic wave slowed somewhat.

With the passing of a family member, a car accident, day job transition, doctor's visits, and saddest of all ~ the breakup with my beautiful (inside and out) girlfriend (I Love You H.), all within a 2 week time period, you may understand why building my SiteBuildIt website wasn't the first thing on my mind.

There was good response last month from the video I posted from a fellow SBI'er, so I thought I'd continue the tradition this month.

This is Elad's story. He's an absolute magician when it comes to developing websites using SBI and has achieved a level of 'working at home' success to which many of us aspire.

Ready for the vital statistics from Month #3?

At the end of January 2010, I had:

  • 110 pages of content
  • 2,276 unique visitors
  • 3,588 total visits
  • and 6,397 page views

My ranking on Google bounced from #4 to #10 for the main keyword "inspirational friendship poems".

The most troubling development of all was a message from Google AdSense which we had been using on all of our SBI sites to create revenue saying that we had been banned.

For many SBI'ers, AdSense by Google makes up the bulk of their passive income. Unfortunately it is not the most stable or predictable source of revenue. Sadly, we did not receive a satisfactory explanation or customer service from their support team to remedy the matter.

If you find this happens to you, be sure to have a backup plan whether it be affiliate income or a substitute for Ad revenue.

That's alright ~ we'll bounce back next month. Thanks to everyone for your support during this tough time.
