Where I'm From

I am from:
Where good memories are clouded by bad mistakes and screaming,
Countless nights of wondering if the sun could rise any faster.
Where the fear of darkness continuously creeps through my window,
As the glow of the moon glistens up the newly painted white walls,
Shadows walk profoundly and stand blankly as if confused in thought,
Only visible when examined with soft foggy eyes,
Craving the escape that pulses through my veins,
Waiting for the events of today and yesterday to melt from my thoughts,
I am from hearts surrounded and engulfed in like bladed barbed wire,
From where protecting yourself is commanded,
Where the bond of being a sister becomes the only sense of matter,
I am from believable rainy days on a day for the beach,
Where a way out is brought on by flashing lights and sirens,
I am from where a pen is a voice but a word means little,
To where life becomes like a never ending ride that you’re strapped into against your will
Where you get places by yourself,
then cross your fingers and hope it pays you back in the end.
